Prof. Athanassios Kaissis

Professor Dr Athanassios Kaissis is professor at the Law Faculty of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He is Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Hellenic Industrial Property Organization, former Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Hellenic Sugar Industry, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the German-speaking jurists of Northern Greece, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the European Patent Academy and practicing lawyer before the Supreme Court.

He was a former member of the Hellenic Data Protection Authority, Director of the Centre of International and European Economic Law and member of the Scientific Committee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Professor Dr Athanassios Kaissis studied Law in Thessaloniki. He carried out his postgraduate studies in Heidelberg-Germany (1973-1978), from where he also obtained his Doctoral Decree.

Member of many scientific committees and author of a large number of books and articles, Professor Dr Athanassios Kaissis has been decorated with the First Class Cross of the Order of Merit from the Federal Republic of Germany.
