Dr Manalis Gkikas

 

Gikas Manalis currently holds the position of the Chairman of the Council of Experts at the Hellenic Republic Asset Development Fund, which is responsible for the Greek Privatization Plan. The council consists of 7 members, out of which 4 are Greeks and the 3 other are representatives from the ECB, the IMF and the EU.

In October 2011 he was appointed Chief Financial Officer at First Business Bank. Under his supervision are the Finance department, the Non-Performing Loans department and the Human Resources.

He also holds the position of the Vice President at the Board of Directors of the Athens Stock Exchange.

He joined the Hellenic Exchanges Group in July 2000 when he assumed the duties of General Director of Corporate Operations. During the period of 2000-2005 he has carried out successfully major projects such as the Group listing on the Athens Stock Exchange, the transformation of the Group which at that time constituted of seven companies, and the subsequent merger and absorption of its subsidiaries, the privatization of Hellenic Exchanges and the functional reorganization of the Group.

For the period of 2006-2010 he held the position of General Director of Business & Products Development. His main responsibilities were the listing of companies in the organized and alternative market of the ASE. He was also responsible for Clearing and Settlement, Risk Management and Market Surveillance.

In 1999 he established a brokerage firm, being its CEO until 2000.

From 1981 to 1999 he worked at National Bank of Greece to the Financial Management Division, Financial Research & Planning Division, Strategic Planning & Financial Auditing Division and to the Treasury Division for the last seven years.

He studied Business Administration at the University of Piraeus (1978), received his Masters degree from the University of Sheffield (1987) on Money, Banking & Finance and holds a Ph.D. in Finance from City University of London (1993).

He has an extensive research field and publications both in Greek and international referee journals, on issues concerning the structure and function of the Greek financial system and the capital market. Among other things, he has published the book "The Effects of Capital Deregulation in the Greek Capital Market”.

He has been appointed lecturer at the University of Economics-Department of Accounting and Finance and a tutor at Panteion University, Department of European Studies. He was instructor (1994-1995) at the National Centre for Public Administration and (1988-2002) at the Hellenic Bank Association.

Gikas Manalis was born in 1955, he is married and father of three children.
