Prof Dimitrios VlachosDimitrios Vlachos was born in Ioannina, Greece. He received Diploma in Electrical Engineering (1988), Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (1992) and PhD in Mechanical Engineering (1999) all from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He worked at the Department of Mechanical Engineering as Research Associate (1992 to 2001) and at the Department of Mechanical Engineering and at the Department of Energy Resources Engineering Management of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki as Adjunct Professor (1999 to 2001). Moreover, he worked as a Postdoc Researcher at the Erasmus University, Econometric Institute, Rotterdam (2000). Since 2002 he holds a Lecturer position and since 2005 an Assistant Professor position (with tenure) at the Department of Mechanical Engineering of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki teaching the following courses: Project management, Reliability and Maintenance, Production Operations Management and Simulation. He has developed research activities in the fields of inventory control in supply chains (logistics), operational research, stochastic methods and business evaluation. He has participated in more than 40 research projects (in three of them as a scientific coordinator and in five of them as project manager). He has authored or co-authored more than 30 paper in scientific journals and more than 50 publications in conference proceedings. He has also contributed in the authoring of 5 book chapters. He is a member of the Hellenic Technical Chamber (TΕΕ), Institute for Operational Research and Management Science (INFORMS), Hellenic Operational Research Society (EEEE), Society of Logistics Engineers (SOLE), District Greece, Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP).
