Prof Charitou Andreas G.
Dr. Andreas Charitou is Professor of Finance and Accounting at the University of Cyprus. He is Vice Dean, School of Economics and Management, co-director of the Ph.d program and co-director of the MBA program. He has also taught at the University of Toronto (Canada) for eleven years (Associate Professor with tenure) and Pennsylvania State University (USA).
He holds a B.Sc degree in Business Administration from the Athens School of Economics and Business Sciences, Greece, 1980, and an MSc (1983) and Ph.d (1986) degrees in Business Administration from the Pennsylvania State University, USA. He is Certified Management Accountant (C.M.A., USA) and successfully completed the Certified Public Accountant examinations (CPA, USA).
He has also been a member of the Board of Directors of the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission and of the Cyprus Stock Exchange. He is a member of the board of directors of the Co-op Central Bank or Cyprus and the Chairman of the Risk Management Committee of the Bank.
His research interests are: international capital markets research, credit analysis and bankruptcy, international cross listing, corporate governance, executive compensation, investments, banking and corporate finance. His work has appeared in a number of international academic journals, among those the Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis (JFQA), Journal of Accounting, Auditing and Finance; Abacus; Journal of Business Finance and Accounting; European Accounting Review; Journal of International Financial Management and Accounting, International Journal of Accounting, Accounting and Business Research, Annals of Operations Research, International Journal of Intelligent Systems in Accounting, Finance and Management; Multinational Finance Journal, The Journal of Commercial Bank Lending.
He is a Co-Editor of the International Journal of Accounting (USA, Elsevier Publishers) and serves on the Editorial Boards of Abacus, European Accounting Review, and Journal of International Accounting Research (American Accounting Association, USA).
